ICTheatre to expand Manchester Campus with new studios at The Great Northern
ICTheatre Manchester is excited to announce the opening of a new studio space at The Great Northern in the heart of Manchester city centre. Starting in September 2024, ICTheatre will operate three new studios at the iconic Great Northern complex, perfectly situated on the corner of Deansgate and Peter Street.
The Grade II listed Great Northern is a must-visit destination, featuring a public square and the longest Victorian terrace in Europe. Just a 15-minute walk (0.6 mile) from ICTheatre’s current Dancehouse location on Oxford Road, the new facilities at The Great Northern will serve as a dynamic extension of the school’s Manchester campus.
The three new studios at The Great Northern will be dedicated spaces for students on ICTheatre’s BA (Hons) Performing Arts course, specifically those focusing on the innovative Acting for the 21st Century pathway. With neighbourhood amenities like independent eateries, bars, and its proximity to Manchester Central and Spinningfields, The Great Northern offers the perfect backdrop for emerging artists and performers.
Dr John Harrison, Head of School at ICTheatre, Manchester said:
“This expansion represents our continued investment in world-class training facilities for our students. The new studios will provide an exceptional environment for our Acting for the 21st Century pathway students to develop their craft in one of the most vibrant cultural hubs in the UK.”
Students, staff, and the local community can look forward to the creative energy these new facilities will bring to an already thriving cultural district.
